I love everything about Japan, especially the culture, movie, manga, and music. So visiting big Japanese festivals is a must for me. From all of the festivals here, one of my favorite is Ennichisai.
Ennichisai is a Japanese art, and culinary festival held in Blok M, South Jakarta. It's annually held since 2010, in 2012, the Jakarta's government even included it as a set of schedules to celebrate Jakarta's birthday.
This year, it was held on 24-25 May. I came to the festival on the second day. There were lots of stands, from foods, accessories, and games. Many kinds of Japanese foods were available, from the famous dishes such as sushi, ramen, and takoyaki, until some snacks like taiyaki, snow ice, etc, most of the sellers were also pure Japaneses so they taste even more delicious than those we've ate on mall or street.
What makes me love Ennichisai is because it wasn't only show some Japanese pop culture and performance or the stands, it showed some traditional dances, and parades which made us felt like we were really in Japan, the atmosphere didn't make us felt we were still Indonesia either, especially at night, it was totally different!
Sadly, this year's Ennichisai was also the last one. There won't be Ennichisai next year or the following years. The reason is because some of irresponsible parties who take advantages from this event by asking some money to the committees who are actually volunteers, they didn't get paid by held this event, they even need a half year to organize it yet all those irresponsible people easily ask to give them some money.
Through a facebook status, Daisei Takeya-san, the chief executive of Ennichisai expressed his regret and apologized to all of people who like Ennichisai for the decision.
